The Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 celebrates Black History Month with an exclusive profile of Illinois music icon Jun Mhoon.

Jun Mhoon has had one of the most interesting and diverse careers ever in the music industry.

At the age of ten, he met Pops Staples, and became the first touring drummer with the Staple

SIngers and opened for rock legends like The Bee Gees, The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Iron

Butterfly and many others. Jun produced Grammy Award winner, Pops Staples first solo

album, “Pops Staples”.

His “blissful ignorance”, as he calls it, combined with his innate creativity and ingenuity, led him

on a career path that includes roles as: drummer, band manager, music producer, record

executive, digital music pioneer with iTunes and TV producer. Jun has produced over 60

albums, with numerous Grammy nominations, played and recorded with Gene Chandler, Otis

Clay, Syl Johnson, Johnny Taylor, Count Basie, Andrea Crouch, Jesse Dixion, and more.

An incredible journey, guided by faith and his willingness to learn, and accept guidance and

wisdom from his elders, Jun Mhoon: The Rhythm of Life is a story like no other.

The Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 is devoted to celebrating the great musical history

made in the state of Illinois. Every Black History Month the museum produces a profile on a

Black musical artist from Illinois, to educate viewers on our state’s rich cultural heritage that has

influenced music history worldwide.

The premier is Sunday 2/4/24 on YouTube,
